Coppicing
Coppicing is a traditional method of woodland management in which young tree stems are cut down to near ground level. In subsequent growth years, many new shoots will emerge and after a number of years the cycle begins again and the coppiced tree, or stool , is ready to be harvested again.
Stump Removal
Tree stumps can be very difficult to remove from the ground. They can be dug out, shredded with a stump grinder, or cut away with special chemicals.
Pollarding
Pollarding is a woodland management method of encouraging lateral branches by cutting off a tree stem or minor branches two or three meters above ground level. The tree is then allowed to regrow after the initial cutting, but once begun, pollarding requires regular maintenance by pruning . This will eventually result in a somewhat expanded (or swollen) top to the tree trunk with multiple new side and top shoots growing from it.
Deadwooding
Deadwooding is needed when a tree has dead, dying or diseased branches. Removal of this dead wood is necessary to maintain the trees health and stops infestations transferring to nearby trees.
Crown Reduction
A crown reduction is often used when a tree has outgrown the space that it occupies. A crown reduction technique reduces the size of a tree but also keeps its natural shape. By reducing the length of branches this reduces the overall size or height.
Thinning
Thinning is a pruning technique used to relieve density throughout the tree. By carefully selecting and removing stems and branches, this helps with light penetration and prevents wind resistance and improves air circulation within the canopy.
Tree Felling

There are two main ways to fell a tree.

Directional felling is where a tree can be felled in one piece and can be brought down to earth in a safe space.

Dismantling is used to remove a tree piece by piece, this is necessary where space is not available for directional felling. An example of this would be where the tree is very close to buildings.

Hedge Trimming
Hedge trimming is necessary to prevent the hedge growing out of shape and to maintain the hedges' vigor.
Brushwood Chipper Service
We operate a brushwood chipper service. All of our 'green' waste that we accumulate is taken back to our base and recycled back into mulch for use on flower beds and paths.
Logs and Woodchip for Sale
We have woodchip and logs for sale. Please contact us for prices.
